We're hosting 3 bashes for 3 different crews. There’s triple the magic and 3 times the "I do’s"! 1 on wheels and 2 lakeside bends, your invite tells which to attend!
Appomattox, VA
If you have time before or after skating here are some cool things in the area:
Appomattox Court House National Historical Park: This is the big one. It’s the site where Lee surrendered to Grant. It’s a beautiful, preserved village with walking trails and living history.
The American Civil War Museum: Located right next to the park, this museum offers a deeper dive into the stories of the soldiers and civilians from that era.
Hollins House & Wolfbane Productions: Check if there’s a show playing at Wolfbane—they do incredible, immersive outdoor theater that’s anything but "stuffy."
Evergreen Lavender Farm: If your guests want a chill afternoon, this is a great spot to wander through lavender fields and grab a lavender-infused treat.
Loose Shoe Brewing Company: For a post-skate pint, this is the local favorite for craft beer in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Marquette, MI
Presque Isle Park: A must-see. You can drive the loop, but walking out to the "Black Rocks" to watch the waves (or jump in, if you’re feeling brave/numb) is a classic Marquette move.
McCarthy’s Cove: The iconic view of the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse. It’s the perfect spot for a sandy walk along Lake Superior.
The Ore Dock Brewing Co.: Located right downtown in a massive, historic building. It’s the heart of the social scene with great beer and often live music.
Sugarloaf Mountain: A relatively short hike with a massive payoff. The wooden platforms at the top give you a 360-degree view of the U.P. wilderness and the lake.
Third Street Village: This is the "hip" corridor. Your guests can wander into shops like Getz’s for some flannel or grab a world-class burger and BLUEBERRY BEER at The Vierling.
Albemarle, NC
Whether you have a few hours between the ceremony and reception or you’re making a full weekend of it, Albemarle has plenty of ways to keep you entertained. Since we spent a year traveling the globe, we can confirm: Albemarle has better parking than Paris and way more Southern charm than Southeast Asia.
🌲 For the Nature Lovers
If you want to stretch your legs (or burn off some wedding cake), head a few miles out of town to Morrow Mountain State Park.
The Views: Drive or hike to the summit for a panoramic look at the Uwharrie Mountains.
The Trails: There are over 35 miles of hiking trails. The Quarry Trail is a short, easy loop, while the Fall Mountain Trail is great if you're looking for something more moderate.
On the Water: You can rent a canoe or kayak to explore the Yadkin River/Lake Tillery.
🍔 For the Foodies & Drinkers
Downtown Albemarle is walkable and full of local gems.
The Courthouse Tavern & Table: Perfect for a sit-down meal with craft cocktails and a great burger.
Five Points Public House: A go-to for lunch or dinner with a great patio for people-watching.
Uwharrie Brewing: Located in a historic firehouse, this is the spot for a flight of local beer. Try the "Morrow Mtn Marzen" if it's on tap!
Albemarle Sweet Shop: You cannot leave town without trying their famous "Clown Cookies" or a fresh pastry. It’s a local legend for a reason.
🎯 For the Adventurous & Curious
The Tomahawk Throwing Range: If you need to blow off some steam, try your hand at axe throwing or visit their "Rage Room."
Badin Road Drive-In: For a dose of nostalgia, catch a double feature at one of the few remaining drive-in theaters in the state.
Stanly County Museum: If you’re a history buff, stop by to learn about the region’s gold mining past and local heritage.
🛍️ Shop Like a Local
Take a stroll down Main Street to browse the boutiques.
The Crow’s Foot: A must-visit for anyone who loves hunting through antiques and vinyl records.
Luna + Everest: For those who realized they forgot a piece of their wedding weekend wardrobe.
LiviBug’s Boutique: Great for unique gifts and Southern style.
